Dear Chinese Nationality Scholarship Supporters,
You are cordially invited to attend a special Chinese Nationality Room Scholarship Dinner on Sunday, November 04, 2012 at Sheraton Station Square.
In 1926, then-Pitt Chancellor John G. Bowman asked Ruth Crawford Mitchell to mobilize immigrants to help design rooms to honor the ethnic traditions of their homelands. The Nationality Rooms at the University of Pittsburgh were thus born. The Chinese Nationality Room was dedicated on October 6, 1939, two years after the dedication of the Cathedral of Learning. You can take a virtual tour of the Chinese Room through http://www.pitt.edu/~natrooms/china/chin.html.
The Chinese Nationality Room scholarship has been given by individual donors since 1948. The scholarship enables the selected students to study in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan during the summer. Thank you for your past support. We hope you can join us again this year.
