Shot in the Andean province of Antioquia (Colombia), where the green mountains have shaped the culture of the region, The Colors of the Mountain is a reflection of the violent Columbian reality, from a children's perspective. A modern-day portrayal of daily life in the Colombian countryside, set around the friendship between three children, Manuel, Poca Luz, and Julián. One day, while playing a game of football, they kick the ball into a minefield. The three friends do everything they can do to recover their prized belonging, an essential part of their everyday lives and dreams. According to the director, the film isn't meant to explain the complex armed conflict nor the political realities in Colombia ; instead it is focused on the secret psychological drama that the main characters undergo. THE COLORS OF THE MOUNTAIN (2010) premiered at the 2010 San Sebastian Film Festival where Arbeláez received the Best New Director award, and it is the Colombia official submission to the 84th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film(From: filmmovements.org).
