Trapped, Directed by Parviz Shahbazi

Event Includes: Post-screening Q&A with Director Parviz Shahbazi and a reception provided by Conflict Kitchen.

"Trapped creates the mood it intends, striking a skillfully crafted balance between humour and gravitas." —Zouch Magazine

Living with a mismatched roommate--it's a situation achingly endured by countless college students. For Nazarin, however, the stakes are much higher than a matter of conflicting interests. In this gripping thriller about loyalty and betrayal in contemporary Tehran, a diligent student and a party girl must face the burdens of scarce money, shady business, and an imperative dilemma that will test the limits of true friendship. As Nazarin explains to her naïve roommate, "we can't expect anything from others." Trapped is a deeply absorbing drama about snared entanglements and seemingly gridlocked plights. The lead actresses' performances are truly excellent under Parviz Shahbazi's talented direction, supplying complicated tension to a film that so exquisitely combines naturalism with suspenseful narrative.
