The presentation will focus on Human Security and Human Rights — Are these streams of work complementary or competitive?
Dr. Des Gasper is professor of human development, development ethics, and public policy at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague, which is part of Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He specializes in climate change, migration, and human securitv. Dr. Gasper has lived in Botswana and Zimbabwe, been Visiting Professor at the University of Bath, and worked in recent years with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)'s Hunan Development Report Office and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
