Join us for the second installment of the International Career Toolkit Series where panelists will discuss options for making constructive use of your time after finishing your undergraduate degree and before attending graduate school or landing your first big job. Panelists Shawn Reming, Ryan Flint, Caitlin Schroering and Jenna Baron will discuss their experiences working with , AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, Fulbright research, PULSE, DART and more!
Shawn Reming holds a BA in history (’06) from St. Vincent College. After graduating, he worked as a museum educator for a year. Then, he pursued an MA in history (’09) at Indian University of PA and studied abroad in Northern Ireland. While there, he decided he wanted to pursue his PhD abroad. He completed his PhD (’12) in history at Queen’s University in Belfast. He completed a year and a half of AmeriCorps after returning to the US. He currently works as Program Coordinator and Site Manager for PittServes and Jumpstart.
Jenna Baron is a Pitt alum (’13) with a BA in Cultural Anthropology and certificates in African and Global Studies. She was a Fulbright Research School in Nairobi from 2013-2014. After completing her research, she returned to Pittsburgh to serve as a PULSE Fellow where she worked for the United Way as an associate for the Be There Campaign. She currently works for the Be There Campaign and is an organizer for the Be a Middle School Mentor Program.
Caitlin Schroering is an alum of Dension University and the University of Florida with a BA (’09) in Environmental Studies and an MA (’15) in Latin American Studies. After completing her undergraduate degree, she served an organization called ICARE through DART, where she worked with people of different backgrounds to achieve social change. She took a break to go back to serve ICARE as a senior organizer before completing her master’s degree. Now she is pursuing a PhD in Sociology at Pitt.
Ryan Flint is a graduate student at GSPIA. He taught English in Africa through the Peace Corps and studied Portuguese in Brazil through the language schools Kiwi Brazil and Easyway Idiomas.
