An audience favorite from the 2013 Silk Screen Festival, Foreign Letters is a beautiful testimony of friendship and adolescence. Ellie escaped Israel with her family as a child and grew up in 1980s Connecticut. The film chronicles her early experiences in America, observations of wealth and excess and her crippling feelings of isolation from her peers. When Ellie meets a fellow immigrant, a Vietnamese refugee named Thuy, the girls bond over their shared experiences as foreigners to a frightening and exciting new culture.
