The Pitt Department of English is hosting Jennifer Sparks, communications consultant with the United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF), for a video conference. She has worked across the Middle East and North Africa, including Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. She is currently in Erbil, Northern Iraq, assisting refugees affected by the Islamic State group. Among other topics, Ms. Sparks will discuss life under the Islamic State, the current state of the relief effort in Iraq, career opportunities in international aid, and the effects of President Trump’s proposed refugee ban on aid efforts. All are welcome.
