Please join us February 6th, 2017 as we livestream a panel discussion hosted by NYU's Jordan Center , entitled “The Global AltRight: Race and U.S.Russia Relations” and featuring the journalists Terrell Starr, Casey Michel and Natasha Bertrand. The event will be moderated by Dr. Jennifer Wilson from University of Pennsylvania. When the United States imposed sanctions against Russia after Putin’s seizure of Crimea, popular Russian pushback against President Obama often took the shape of racist rhetoric and imagery.

The aim of this event is to bring together students and staff at the University of Pittsburgh in a panel style discussion about the varies parallels between racism and the civil rights movement in America and Apartheid in South Africa. We want students and faculty to be able to recognize patterns in history in an effort to stop it from repeating itself and be able to see their part in any change that may come in the future regarding racial and social relations in America and worldwide.
