Come to a joint info session sponsored by African Studies, The Center for Russian and Eastern European Studies & Vira I. Heinz Program on Thursday, September 26 from 12:30-1:30!

Students will describe how international experiences in Eastern Europe and Africa have internationalized their education and helped them to earn credits towards UCIS certificates!
They will also share how they won scholarships to fund these international experiences!

9 project participants from Albania, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Macedonia, the Netherlands, the Slovak Republic, and Spain have been invited to the US under the auspices of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program and will participate in a roundtable discussion discussing US-EU relations. The visitors are all actively involved with good governance issues through their work with NGO’s or as elected officials. The themes for the Pittsburgh segment of the program are economic redevelopment and sustainable urban development.

Muzicka is a group of talented young musicians from Prague, Czech Republic who are traveling to the US for the first time. Don't miss an unforgettable evening of lively folk music, vibrant costumes, interesting stories and great company! Refreshments and a cash bar will be available. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Fund for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage at the Via Foundation of Prague.

Organized in collaboration with Wulf Reiners of the Jean Monnet Chair for Political Science of the University of Cologne, the workshop will serve to bring together practitioners and academic scholars to discuss the collaboration of state and non-state actors, such as the European Union, as well as those from civil society, within the system of global health governance.

The East European Clubs Potluck event will bring together the undergraduate REES language clubs for conversation and great food!
Each club will be coordinating a potluck dish representative of their region to bring to the event. Set-up for clubs at 11:30am.

The REES Undergraduate Coffee Hour is a new, informal monthly event that will allow undergraduates enrolled in or interested in
the REES certificate to interact with one another and share their personal experiences with Russian and East European Studies.
This month's topic will be "Brainstorming for the Next Academic Year with the REES Undergraduate Student Association."
We will also continue our discussion on favorite courses and SLI.
This will be the last coffee hour of spring semester!

Pittsburgh filmmaker Lauren Knapp will discuss her upcoming documentary, "Live from UB," talk about the experience of filming for
