Pittsburgh Global Town Hall Highlights the Intersection of Climate, Gender, and Sustainability

The intersection of climate, gender, and global sustainability was at the forefront of the Pittsburgh Global Town Hall, a diverse set of programs featuring lectures, expert panel discussions, and documentary film showings.

PublicSource featured the Pittsburgh Global Town Hall in Covering Climate Now, a global collaboration of more than 250 news outlets seeking to strengthen coverage of climate stories. PublicSource is a nonprofit digital news organization reporting on the Pittsburgh region.

The University of Pittsburgh hosted the town hall event on September 20, 2019, to focus public attention on climate, gender, and sustainability and steps from local activism to global reform. Among the discussions, local and international advocates pointed to why including women and gender minorities in climate change conversations leads to the most effective solutions.
