Kiril Krastev, baritone

The tenor, Kiril Krastev, was born on 1 May 1921 in Petrich. He began vocal studies at the State Academy of Music in 1941 as a student of Ivan Popov.

After his debut at the Ruse Opera on 8 November 1949 singing in Queen of Spades, he continued singing in the opera houses of Bulgaria including the Sofia National Opera. International engagements took him to the various countries of the Eastern Bloc countries including the great opera houses of Kiev, Bucharest and Odessa.

In addition to Gherman his roles included Zurga in the Pearl Fishers, Eugene Onegin and Kaloyan in the Bulgarian opera Tzar Kaloyan.
