Pavel Manolov, bass

The bass, Pavel Manolov, was born on 30 January 1917 in Sofia. He began singing with the Gusla Choir when he was 17 and after High School sang in the chorus of the Sofia National Opera.While attending the National Music Academy he studied with Mara Marinova-Tzibulva and Christo Brambarov.

In 1946 Pavel Manolov joined the Stara Zagora Opera where his debut took place that year as the Sacristan in Tosca. In 1950 he began his long career with the Sofia National Opera. Major roles in his repertoire included: Sparfucile, Fernando, the Grand Inquisitor, Coline, Don Basilio in addition to many roles in the Russian repertoire.

Pavel Manolov died in Sofia in 1971.
