Sabin Markov, baritone

The baritone, Sabin Markov, was born in Sofia 28 April 1935. After beginning his musical studies on the violin he studied voice with Ilija Jossifov at the State Academy of Music. He became a member of the Sofia National Opera with his debut being as Rigoletto in 1964.

International appearances took him to Vienna, Salzburg, West Berlin, South America, Cuba and Switzerland. Later in his life he became a professor of voice at the State Academy of Music.

Major roles in his career included Renato, Rigoletto, Prince Igor, Gerard, Onegin, Yeletsky, Tonio, Count di Luna, and Rodrigo in Don Carlo. Sabin Markov died in 1993.
