The bass, Stefan Tsiganchev, was born 14 April 1929 in Svilengrad. He studied with Christo Brambarov and Katia Spiridonova.
He debuted in 1956 in Ballo. In 1959 he received second prize in the Seventh Festival of Young Singers in Vienna. He has been a soloist with the Varna Opera Theater for over 39 years and appeared as a guest with the Sofia National Opera between 1962 and 1980. Additional appearances throughout Bulgaria occurred during this time. International appearances were at the Bolshoi in Moscow, Leningrad, Italy, Spain, Japan, Germany, England, China, Mongolia and most of the former Eastern Bloc countries.
Major roles in his career included Philip, Fiesco, Boris Godunov, Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Don Basilio and many roles in the Bulgarian repertoire.
