Takao Kawaguchi's About Kazuo Ohno
The Warhol partners with The Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania and The Asian Studies Center of the University of Pittsburgh to welcome experimental theater artist and dancer Takao Kawaguchi with his solo performance tribute to legendary Japanese butoh dancer Kazuo Ohno, who passed away in 2010 at age 103. Kawaguchi mirrors and re-constructs Ohno’s movements based on video recordings of performances of early masterpieces including Admiring La Argentina (1977), My Mother (1981), and Dead Sea, Ghost, Wienerwaltz (1985).
Handa City Sashiko Program at the Society for Contemporary Craft
Join the Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania and the Society for Contemporary Craft to learn about the Japanese textile art sashiko.
Sashiko is a decorative reinforcement stitch, similar to Western quilting, traditionally with white thread on an indigo background. The presentation will be given by Fumiyo Iwadachi and the hands-on making session will be facilitated by Itsuko Hotta.

TPP and Abenomics
You are cordially invited to a luncheon with Eric Sedlak, a Mt. Lebanon native and expert on the current business climate in Japan. Mr. Sedlak will discuss Abenomics and the status of the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, with emphasis on current opportunities for US companies.
The luncheon will be held on Friday, September 16 from 12:00 to 1:30 PM in the Jones Day offices in the BNY Mellon building.

Join us for the Japanese-English Reading Circle, a first of its kind reading group!
Mission: to promote language learning through reading and language exchange. We aim to keep positivity and motivation high while developing reading fluency, vocabulary, content discussion, and reading strategies in a fun, collaborative environment.

*Members choose what they want to read (we have a library of Japanese and English books)
*Members read individually on their own time (meetings are for conversation)
Mahatma Gandhi Birthday Celebration
Please join us for an afternoon of activities celebrating the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings. Enjoy tea and conversations with Pittsburgh organizations at 2:00 pm, followed by cultural performances, inter-faith presentations, and a panel discussion with authors, scholars, and educators with the topic "Be the Change:" Gandhi and the Next Generation.

Moh Maya Money
This film is part of the Silk Screen Film Festival. Admission is free to Pitt students with an ID. Aman enjoys the finer things in life and has stopped at nothing to possess them, including embezzling from his real estate firm. When the opportunity to head up a large deal comes along, Aman puts his co-worker and fellow petty criminal, in charge, hoping that he will receive significant kickbacks when the job is finished. But, the deal goes awry, potentially ruining Aman.
Twisted Justice
This film is part of the Silk Screen Film Festival. Admission is free to Pitt students with an ID. One of the greatest scandals in Japanese police history, the Inaba Case, is the basis of this gritty, crime thriller. In 2002, Yoshiaki Inaba, a police inspector of Hokkaido Prefectural Police, was indicted on several counts involving weapons and narcotics.
