Championing the Rights of Girls
-Every day, women and girls are subjected to rape for reasons of politics, social beliefs and even superstitions.
-Betty Makoni established the Girl Child Network in 1999 to champion the rights of girl children, after listening to the horrifying experiences of ten of her female students.
-The Girl Child Network advocates on behalf of girls and empowers them to speak out when their rights are being violated.

Student Ambassador Program Workshop
During this workshop, teachers will be introduced to the program and resources, hear from an expert on global education, and interact with teachers from the Pittsburgh region who have successfully implemented global education in their curricula and schools. Teachers will receive a complimentary CD with program resources. A light dinner will be served and parking vouchers will be available. Participating teachers will receive three (3) ACT 48 credits.
