When the use of AI became a reality in the classroom, our first reaction was hot we could prevent students from using AI to do assignments. Knowing that AI use will soon be ubiquitous, a better question we may be asking is how we should take advantage of AI in teaching rather than fighting it. This talk will explore a few ways to test ChatGPT's capability and suggest ways in which AI could be used in EALL's foreign language classroom.
Join us for a special guest lecture with Dr. Samuel Tefara, visiting professor from Addis Ababa University!
Rwanda’s genocide is well documented as one of the worst in recent African history. Happening in 1994 in approximately 100 days, it was a dark time in the history of Rwanda, East Africa and Africa. 30 years later in 2024, what is going on in Rwanda? What are the narratives and counternarratives being passed on to future generations? What are the sociopolitical relations among the people of Rwanda? In this photographic journey, Leonora Anyango, Ph.D. will talk about her recent trip to Rwanda and her experiences as she traversed the country.
Also featured in this session: A trip to Burundi and research from students in Prof. Anyango’s “The Language of Policy and Power” Class.
