Festival of the Egg 2024
The Spring Festival of the Egg is a family-oriented event welcoming the coming of Spring in many ethnic traditions as featured by members and friends of the Nationality and Heritage Room Committees at the University of Pittsburgh. Many hands-on activities will be made available.

The African Immigrant Experience in Pittsburgh: Community Perspectives
Join the Center for African Studies to hear from representatives from various Africa diaspora communities in Pittsburgh as they discuss what it means to be an African immigrant in Southwestern Pennsylvania. This panel will speak to the challenges, opportunities, and surprises they have encoutered living in the Pittsburgh area and what they want the greater community to know.
East European Festival
Join us to celebrate the East European region through culture, cuisine, and live performances here at Pitt. We will be hosting numerous food vendors, local acts, student/academic organizations, and local diaspora organizations. Take part in the region's traditions! Experience the festive music, delicious cuisines, and traditional dances of Eastern Europe and its surrounding regions.This event is co-hosted by the Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Programs and the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies! Come and learn about amazing traditions!
Let's Talk Africa With Angel Maxine, Ghana's First Openly Transgender Musician
Angel Maxine has been called Ghana's first transgender musician; that is, she is the first to be open about it. The daughter of a reverend and a prophetess, Angel will speak about her experiences growing up in Ghana and what it's like for the LGBTQ community there. She will discuss how she uses music as a tool of activism, especially in response to the new anti-LGBTQ bill in Ghana's Parliament.
Celtic Culture Celebration
Please join us for a virtual event created by the Welsh, Scottish and Irish Rooms as they showcase unique aspects of their culture. Enjoy a brief Powerpoint presentation of each room and pre-recorded videos exclusively made for this event on each culture's history, art, music, poetry, dance and more?
17th Annual High School Model European Union
The High School Model European Union is an annual event for high school students, with this year's simulation taking place virtually via Microsoft Teams. The goal of the Model EU is to give high school students the opportunity to learn about the workings of the European Union through a hands-on simulation of a meeting of the European Council. Playing the role of presidents and prime ministers, students spend a day engaged in intense negotiations over current issues impacting the EU.

2020 NCSS Virtual Booth
The 2020 NCSS Virtual Conference is taking place December 4-6, 2020. Exhibitor booths are available to participants from November 30, 2020, until April 30, 2021. The European Studies booth is shared by Pitt's ESC and UNC's CES. NCSS attendees can visit our virtual booth to learn more about the resources offered by our centers, including our annual Brussels-Lux Study Tour for educators.
