This collaborative and hands-on professional development workshop aimed at North Allegheny Senior High School teachers will guide educators in the creation of a comprehensive and engaging Global Studies curriculum for grades 6-12. The workshop will explore strategies to enhance students’ understanding of global issues, intercultural perspectives, and critical thinking skills.

World Culture Day at Avella Sr/Jr High School took place on Wednesday, May 21, with a focus on celebrating cultural diversity and global awareness. Five Outreach Engagement Coordinators from the University of Pittsburgh participated in the event, which featured various activities designed to showcase different cultures from around the world. The coordinators engaged approximately 200-250 students through interactive games, performances, presentations, and other cultural activities.

The Spring Festival of the Egg is a family-oriented event welcoming the coming of Spring in many ethnic traditions as featured by members and friends of the Nationality and Heritage Room Committees at the University of Pittsburgh. Many hands-on activities will be made available.

In this third installment of the 2022 Global Issues Through Literature Series (GILS), educators will convene to discuss Kate Evans' Threads: From the Refugee Crisis, a full-graphic novel of the refugee drama addressing one of the most pressing issues of modern times to make a compelling case, through intimate evidence, for the compassionate treatment of refugees and the free movement of peoples.

The Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES) and the Study Abroad Office (SAO) in collaboration with the Pittsburgh-based global service-learning organization Amizade propose to bring together community organizers and nonprofit leaders with University of Pittsburgh faculty and students for a public forum themed “Water Is Life." The thematic concentration on water reflects the contemporary significance of the topic, which invites inquiry from a regional and global perspective. Water is at the core of human and environmental existence.
