This Topical Brown Bag Luncheon will feature guest speaker, Dr. Sharon Connor, talking about the international aspect of pharmacy. Two projects will be discussed, both related to pharmacovigilance. The first project is an assessment of adverse drug events in a low-income sub-Saharan African country. The second evaluates medication taking behavior in a rural area in a lower-middle income Latin American country.
Dr. Arjen Dondorp is Professor of Tropical Medicine and Deputy Director of the Mahidol Oxford Clinical Research Unit in Bangkok, Thailand. For more information on Dr. Dondorp, click here. Lunch will be provided.

Whether you’re an American Pitt student interested in meeting people from different cultures or learning other languages, or you’re an international student looking to make American friends in your new home in Pittsburgh, this FREE event perfect for you! If you’ve ever heard of “Speed Dating,” this is similar. The only difference is that the objective is to make friends! Students will be seated across from each other (one American student and one international student) and have 5 minutes to talk with each other in English to see if they have similar interests or hobbies.

If you are looking to learn a little more about other cultures with some entertainment thrown in then come to the William Pitt Union Ballroom and watch the World Dance Showcase. Individuals and groups have been invited to perform traditional dances from their country and perhaps get some new participants to learn their dances as well!
