Barrister, PhD and LLB graduate of Trinity College Dublin, Professor Gavin Barrett is a Professor of Law in University College Dublin and sometime Jean Monnet Professor of European Constitutional and Economic Law.

2019 ESC and ULS Summer Research Scholar, Ryan Phillips (Lycoming College), will present his work on Democratization and the European Union and share his findings in the Barbara Sloane EU Delegation Collection.

The European Studies Center, the Global Studies Center, and the University Center for International Studies, with the support of the Office of the Provost and the Year of Pitt Global Initiative at the University of Pittsburgh, in partnership with Global Voice and the Workable World Trust, will host the Second Annual Global Town Hall Meeting on UN and Global Governance Reform on Thursday 19 September to Friday 20 September 2019.

Dr. Musialkowska and Dr. Talaga, the 2016 ESC and ULS Summer Research Scholars, will be presenting an update on their research in Pitt’s Barbara Sloan EU Depository Collection. Dr. Musialkowska’s research focuses on EU-Latin America dialogue on territorially-oriented development policies. Dr. Talaga’s research focuses on the evolution of legal character of decisions on state aid in the European Union. Both of this year’s summer scholars have come to Pitt from Poznan University in Poland.

The 2013 Bosnian census figures reported by the central government contain an over-count of approximately 150,000, a number greater than the population of the third-largest city in the country, and probably due to mainly to illegal registrations of non-residents in strategically important parts of the country. While EUROSTAT had devised procedures to ensure a more accurate enumeration, the leaders of the three main ethno-national political communities had opposing interests in counting non-residents, illegally, as residents.
