This is open to undergraduate and graduate students at Pitt.

Africa is undergoing an economic redesign led by a new generation of leaders and entrepreneurs who are demonstrating a growing sense of optimism. As reforms accelerate across the continent, most African countries will transition into the emerging market status in coming years. In this talk, we will present how Africa is emerging as an important new market and how that creates opportunities for businesses around the world. Because it is not a country, but a region with many national boundaries, we will examine how to navigate the challenging business complexities and realities.

International Education Week is celebrated at Pitt and campuses across the country for one week, from November 17-21, 2014. The week is an opportunity for you to experience a new culture, open your mind to a new perspective of the world, or to simply savor a new taste. Join us for a discussion on human rights, women, and culture in Uganda. We welcome Pitt Graduate Student and Ugandan acid attack survivor, Hanifa Nakiryowa, as she shares her experience as an acid attack survivor.

The Department of French & Italian Languages and Literatures will hold a conference on Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30, 2015: “History and its Discontents: Commemoration in Italy and the Francophone World.” On this occasion we will welcome an exciting slate of visitors to campus to reflect on the dates, places, discourses, and mechanisms of commemoration in the French, Francophone, and Italian cultures; distinguished scholars from a range of institutions and specializing in a stimulating array of topics and periods will be joined in conversation by our Pitt faculty colleague

Jerusalem Yibeltal comes to us from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia where she is a PhD candidate in International and Comparative Education. She will discuss the current state of the graduate labor market and factors influencing graduate employment, the topics of her dissertation.
