An outrageous comedy that brings New York’s ChineseAmerican underworld to the (virtual) big screen. The eponymous Grandma (played by veteran actressTsai Chin) tries her hand at blackjack and runs afoul of Chinatown gangs. Part buddy comedy, part heist film, Lucky Grandma is anchored by Chin’s excellent performance, which the New York Times calls
“effortlessly funny.”

Viewing world history from the vantage point of the Silk Roads can challenge the Eurocentrism of mainstream history and introduce a more balanced view of the past. In this online workshop, Dr. Margarita Delgado Creamer (University of Pittsburgh) and Dr. Thomas R. Mueller (California University of Pennsylvania) will explore with us the global significance of this trade network that connected India, Central and East Asia, and Europe for over a thousand years.

Participants will be randomly assigned into teams to compete. This is a great chance for incoming international students to get to know one another and meet domestic students as well!

The Panther Leadership Summit, hosted by the Office of Cross Cultural Leadership Development, is an opportunity for student leaders to engage in leadership training and professional development. UCIS hosts a cross-cultural simulation, BaFa BaFa, for students to better understand the influence of ingrained rules of culture and the difficulty of adapting to a new (foreign) culture.
