If you’ve ever heard of “Speed Dating,” this is similar. The only difference is that the objective is to make friends! Students will be seated across from each other (one American student and one international student) and have 5 minutes to talk with each other in English to see if they have similar interests or hobbies.

World Dance Showcase

If you are looking to learn a little more about other cultures with some entertainment thrown in then come to the William Pitt Union Ballroom and watch the World Dance Showcase. Individuals and groups have been invited to perform traditional dances from their country and perhaps get some new participants to learn their dances as well!
Join us for an evening of dance performances from around the world. Past performances have included dances from Africa, Brazil, Chile, China, England, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, the Middle East, Peru, and more! Refreshments will be served.

International education in the United States is not just about studying abroad and taking courses on other regions of the world. It is also about welcoming international students to our universities, who in turn enrich our educational experience with their unique background and skill sets. OIS and CILE will provide an overview of the impact international students have had here at Pitt and beyond.

Ashlie Henery will present “Exploring the Relationship Between Reported Social Interaction and Gains in Communicative Abilities During Study Abroad”.
