The annual Japanese High School Speech Contest is a collaboration between the Asian Studies Center and the Japan America Society of Pennsylvania. The contest features a poster contest and four levels of speech contest for high school students of Japanese. Held each year in early March, the day features cultural activities and information tables for the students, a cultural performance at lunch, a pedagogy workshop for the teachers, and an awards ceremony. The Cultural Attaché from the Consul General of Japan in New York attends, and presents the grand prize to the top student in the contest.
