Pitt Undergraduates Came in Second Place in the 2024 Emory Morningside Global Health Case Competition

A University of Pittsburgh team won second place and a $3,000 cash prize at the 2024 Emory Morningside Global Health Case Competition.

After winning Pitt’s intramural case competition in the fall, six juniors were invited to represent the Pitt at the Emory Global Health Institute. The team competed against 30 schools across six continents and was one of only three comprised solely of undergraduate students.

This year’s participants were Dylan Kurian, Cindy Le, Namita Mahajan and Christina Yi, all of the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences; Lauren Angus, a Dietrich School and David C. Frederick Honors College scholar; and Harper Segal, of the Swanson School of Engineering.

The students were given one week to propose a comprehensive intervention to end tuberculosis in India, with a special focus on accelerating integrated care to tackle the country’s “twindemic” of tuberculosis and diabetes mellitus.
