Contributing to the Center for International Studies

In 1968, the University Center for International Studies (UCIS) was created as the University of Pittsburgh’s encompassing framework for its multidisciplinary international programs. The design for UCIS was carefully thought out to promote the integration and synthesis of international knowledge, not splintering into disciplinary islands. When UCIS was created, this design was unique, and it inspired other research universities to create similar centers. Today, Pitt continues to innovate in this field. UCIS has become the umbrella organization not just for multidisciplinary international studies programs, but also for the global operations and services units that increase Pitt’s global presence. The University of Pittsburgh is recognized worldwide as a leading institution in international scholarship and international education. As such, UCIS is a gateway to the development of global competency for students as well as targeted scholarly research; it is the unit driving Pitt’s internationalization, steered by embedded expertise. Please consider donating to our general fund, or any of the specialty funds described below. We also welcome a conversation about creating new or named funds, and you can contact us with any questions. Thank you for your support.
