Testimonials from Pitt Project GO Narva Program Participants

• One thing I loved about this program was the location. Being able to speak Russian everywhere I went was such a valuable learning opportunity. I enjoyed a lot of the excursions we went on, and I thought it was a fun way to learn about the history of Estonia and gain more cultural insight. I thought my interactions with the entire Project GO team in general were great, and I felt that I could depend on them if needed. I loved my classmates in the program! Everyone was from different backgrounds and had vastly different personalities, but I think we all for the most part meshed together well and looked out for each other.

• Pitt Project GO in Narva was an absolute blast! Whether it was conjugating verbs in the
classroom or chatting with locals in the sauna, there was a plethora of opportunities to
practice my Russian around the town. I can’t recommend the program enough—every
person in our class improved their ILR score, and I saw a huge improvement in my own
reading comprehension as well. My only critique is that the program is only 8 weeks!

• I very much enjoyed my Project GO experience in Narva, a border town of Estonia
right across the water from Russia. It was a lot of work, but it certainly paid off as
many people in this city didn’t understand any English, and so we really needed to get a
feel for Russian in order to do our daily tasks. I also loved the instructors, who were fun but also strict, and always there if we had a question. I enjoyed the program and bonded tremendously with others on it as well.

• Project GO Russian in Narva through the University of Pittsburgh was a deeply enriching
experience, growing language abilities, cultural understanding, and personal
development. Eight weeks of an intensive program simply propelled my understanding
of the Russian language to unprecedented heights, and the excursions, cultural
interactions, and other events the program had planned for the students only helped.
For anyone seriously studying Russian, this program comes highly recommended from
me, not only due to the high quality of the program, but also due to the large quantity of
local Russian speakers in Narva itself.
