Valeria Umanets

Valeria Umanets is a UCIS Postdoctoral Fellow in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies and is affiliated with the Department of Political Science and the Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research interests include women and politics, non-democratic political institutions, historical political economy, and post-communist states. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and her MPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford. Her research involves working with archival data, econometric models, elite interviews, and survey experiments. Her work has been published in Democratization and by Routledge. Her pronouns are she/her/hers.
