Opportunities for Students

Both here and abroad, the Asian Studies Center is pleased to offer more ways to learn about Asia outside of the classroom.

Study Abroad

Study abroad adds an international dimension to an undergraduate education. Students learn firsthand what it feels like to be a stranger in a foreign land. It is an experience they never forget.

Pitt has a diverse and extensive array of pre-approved study abroad programs and providers going to Japan, China, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and India. All offer credits towards your degree and international certificate requirements. Visit the Study Abroad website at www.abroad.pitt.edu (main page) to explore programs and search by location, program duration or time of year, and foreign language.

Experiential Learning

The Asian Studies Center is developing experiential learning opportunities that range from hands-on workshops to cultural events to field trips designed to prepare students for engagement with Asia. These co-curricular activities complement what is being taught in the classroom to enrich the overall educational experience.

Internships

Internships are a great way to explore potential career paths. The Asian Studies Center has internships within the center, internships within the US and others in Asia including paid internships in Japan.

Volunteer

We welcome individuals to help volunteer at our programs and events. There are opportunities to practice your language skills, meet visiting scholars, and even teach a cultural skill to others. Please contact asia@pitt.edu if you’d like to get involved.
