Asian Studies Center Internships

Teaching Asian Studies Curriculum

The Asian Studies Center offers hands-on internships for undergraduate students interested in teaching through our Teaching Asian Studies Curriculum internships.

  • Chinese Language Teaching Internship: Get hands-on experience in a high school Chinese language class. Students will be mentored by a current MA student teacher and get three course credits that can be used toward your Asian Studies Certificate. This internship is especially valuable if you are considering teaching either in the US or abroad.
  • Social Studies Teaching Internship: Get hands-on experience in a high school social studies class. Students will be mentored by a current MA student teacher and get three course credits that can be used toward your Asian Studies Certificate. Students have used this internship as a springboard to Fulbright Teaching Fellowships abroad.

Global Leadership Network Internships

Intern with Pittsburgh organizations with Asian connections. Students will either earn $15 an hour for 10 hours per week of work or will earn course credit for internships in the Spring. Students will also be eligible to participate in a one credit internship cohort mentoring and networking course in the Spring semester.

  • Filipino-American Association of Pittsburgh: The Asian Studies Center is offering an internship opportunity, designed for a full-time Pitt undergraduate student interested in working with the Filipino-American Association of Pittsburgh (FAAP). The Filipino American Association of Pittsburgh was founded in 1956 to preserve, promote and perpetuate the Filipino heritage among our members and the communities through cultural, charitable, and educational activities. We envision a dynamic and vibrant Filipino American community that is recognized and valued as an integral part of America’s ethnic diversity.
  • Bhutanese Community Association of Pittsburgh: The Asian Studies Center and Global Studies Center are offering an internship opportunity, designed for a full-time Pitt undergraduate student interested in working with the Bhutanese Community Association of Pittsburgh (BCAP). The goal of the Bhutanese Community Association of Pittsburgh is to ease the transition of refugee community members into American society by providing support, education, and a sense of community. They strive to ensure a high quality of life for the Bhutanese community members in Pittsburgh. They support this goal through culturally informed services and programs.
  • Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania: The Asian Studies Center is offering an internship opportunity, designed for a full-time Pitt undergraduate student interested in working with the Japan America Society of Pennsylvania (JASP). The JASP is the premier organization for educational, business, and arts activities related to Japan and Japan-America relations.
