Southeast Asia and the Pacific Conference Participation Grant

Amount: 
$300 for domestic conferences, $600 for international conferences
Deadline details: 

Applicants must apply before conference dates. Applications will be accepted Sept. 15, Dec. 1, March 15, July 15. If you are accepted for a conference after one deadline but before the next one,  please contact Emily Rook-Koepsel (rookkoepsel@pitt.edu) for more information.

Purpose of grant: 
This grant provides partial support for travel related to presentation of Southeast Asia and/or the Pacific studies-related conference papers
Eligibility: 

Grant is available to MA and doctoral students with a conference presentation in Southeast Asia and/or the Pacific studies. Priority is given to first-time applicants.

Southeast Asia and the Pacific Graduate Research Grant

Amount: 
Up to $1000
Purpose of grant: 
This grant provides partial support for travel related to pre-doctoral research in and/or about Southeast Asia and/or the Pacific
Eligibility: 

Students must be enrolled in an approved degree program at the University of Pittsburgh. Awards must be used in conjunction with a specific research project on the Southeast Asia and/or the Pacific. Students who receive the award will be asked to supply the Southeast Asia and the Pacific Council with a short (2 paragraph) summary of the results of the research the grant supported within one year of receipt of the award.
Priority is given to first-time applicants who are in their early stage of dissertation research. Priority is also given to students in a doctoral program, although MA students may apply.

Asian Studies Center Student Group Event

Amount: 
up to $300 per event

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Purpose of grant: 
The ASC student group event funding is meant to allow student groups which plan on hosting an event related to Asian studies to apply for a portion of the event's cost. Awards are capped at $300.
Eligibility: 

All registered student groups are eligible to apply for funding.

Asian Studies Small Grants

Amount: 
$1000-$2000
Purpose of grant: 
For non-travel purposes, the Asian Studies Small Grants can now be used by any Asia-focused faculty. But for travel purposes, this grant will only fund research travel to study areas in Asia that are not China, Japan, or Korea.
Eligibility: 

Faculty are eligible to apply for up to $2000 for Asia-related activities. This grant can be used for non-travel programming and research for all areas of Asia, and for research and conference travel for study areas of Asia outside China, Korea, and Japan. Preference is given to projects that begin during the current fiscal year.  Full-time and part-time tenure-stream, tenured and non tenure-stream faculty (including lecturers, adjunct faculty, and contract faculty) at all Schools, Departments, Centers, Institutes and Campuses of the University of Pittsburgh are eligible to submit proposals.
