Events

The Center for African Studies (CAS) hosts various professional development events, conferences and seminars designed to enhance knowledge and understanding of Africa and celebrate the rich diversity of the continent and its contributions to world civilizations.

CAS offers a rich and diverse series of educational events and activities outside the classroom that help to highlight interdisciplinary scholarship on Africa and encourage conversations on Africa. In the Critical Research on Africa (CRA) lecture series, faculty and students engage with research on current topics. Regular programs such as the Let’s Talk Africa (LTA) series, roundtable internships in Africa, workshops and conferences offer abundant additional opportunities for scholarly engagement on Africa. CAS also coordinates and hosts the Model African Union for both K-12 high school students and Pitt college students.
