Pitt’s African Studies Graduate Certificate is designed for students who wish to intensify their study of African generally and any specific African countries of their interest. The program is designed to promote the study of Africa from global, interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives and offer opportunities for stakeholders to engage with the diverse African continent. Students from any professional schools or departments have the opportunity to participate in the program through courses, internships, workshops and study abroad in Africa. Typically, students earn the academic credential (Certificate in African Studies) at no extra tuition cost and with minimal additional investment of time and work.
