Speaker: Dr. Jean Eddy Saint Paul
As part of the Diversity Series Presenting Latinx Scholars in International Affairs, Dr. Jean Eddy Saint Paul will discuss the role racism has played in shaping U.S. Foreign policy toward Haiti, as well as the solidarity expressed by Haiti toward other Latin American countries (the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivar, and Mexico) to achieve their independences.
Jean Eddy Saint Paul, PhD is an internationally noted scholar and author in the interdisciplinary field of Haitian studies, and has greatly contributed to a better understanding of Haitian society through the lens of historical sociology of politics, as well as the U.S. foreign relations towards the Caribbean nation. Professor Saint Paul was the founding director of the City University of New York's Haitian Studies Institute (CUNY-HSI) at Brooklyn College, which was created in 2016.
