The region is experiencing extreme climate events, growing anti-democratic movements, increased international and internal migration, and growing social inequality. Such conditions present opportunities to address ongoing challenges in a variety of contexts. We aim to promote scholarly discussions around issues that include, but are not limited to:
Sustainability: Climate change mitigation and adaption
Economics: Degrowth, development
Politics: Democracy, political parties, international relations
Human Rights: Education, labor, inequality, gender, race, ethnicity, indigeneity, migration
Urban and Regional Planning: Transportation, infrastructure, housing, land policy
Culture and Religion
