Funds for the 2024-2025 Academic Year are now available
The CLAS Travel to Professional Meetings Small Grants were established to support faculty in advancing their professional development and sharing their work in Latin American, Caribbean, and Diasporic Studies (such as Latinx studies) with the broader academic community. These grants provide travel funds for faculty to attend conferences and professional meetings.
The CLAS Travel to Professional Meetings provides up to $800 per academic year to support faculty affiliated with the Center for Latin American Studies. To be eligible, the faculty member must be presenting a paper or participating as an organizer, discussant, or moderator in a session focused on the Latin American or Caribbean region. Faculty members are eligible to receive a maximum of $800 annually. Funds are limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until funds run out.
Important Points:
- Funding is limited and grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Therefore, if you submit your application late in the academic year, you may not receive funds. Funding for travel to professional meetings that take place between September and August should be requested no later than May 15. In general, you should apply for funding as soon as you have confirmation that you will be participating in a meeting/conference.
- The funds can be used to pay for airline tickets for travel within the United States. They cannot, however, be used to pay for international airfare.
- The funds can be used to cover food, lodging, and incidental expenses (that is, per diem expenses) related to participation in a meeting/conference anywhere in the world.
- You will need to submit the documentation that your paper or session has been accepted.
- The funds will be reimbursed after you present your receipts. Please note that it may take at least 10 working days to be reimbursed.
