The aim of the internship is to involve CLAS certificate student(s) in organizations that work in and with the Latinx community in Southwestern Pennsylvania and leverage the skills and language acquired during their course of studies at the University of Pittsburgh.

BLACK TRANS ARTIVISM AND SCHOLARSHIP
June 18, 2021
3:00 P.M.
Join them for a conversation about Black Trans Artivism and Scholarship with Professor Feibriss Cassilhas from Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA), Poet and Literature student Luna Dy Cortes from Universidade de São Paulo (USP), and the Founder of the Free Black University and PhD researcher at the University of Cambridge Melz, mediated by Dr. Watufani Poe.

The event will also welcome the organizations: sisTers PGH, a Black, trans led organization in Pittsburgh that provides advocacy & affordable housing for QTBIPOC, True T Pittsburgh, an organization celebrating Queer People of Color through Creative Art, Entertainment, & Activism, Rainbow Alliance, an undergraduate student organization at the University of Pittsburgh that hosts social, educational, and political events for LGBTQIA+ students and allies, and T is For, a student organization to provide the needs, interests, and tangible support of the trans and not cis members of the organization and Pittsburgh community and their intersecting identities. 
 
The event will be multilingual, navigating between English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.  We are happy to have Charlieyã Abayomi to help us with translation service (PORT/ENG).

Summer in the city heats up with the cool sounds of live music on the river, as the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership announces its grand opening at Allegheny Overlook, a Pop-Up Park on Fort Duquesne Blvd. The park is part of ongoing efforts to welcome the safe return of performing arts, and a new way for residents, workers, and visitors to experience live music and performances Downtown.
 
Sporting a vibrant street mural from Pittsburgh artist Janel Young, this Downtown oasis will include a fixed stage, and encompass a beautiful green area with tree-lined canopy and expansive views of the river. Also branded as the ‘AO’, the park will offer outdoor recreation, food, beverages, picnic tables and rocking chairs, along with a steady stream of programming curated by a myriad of music presenters and performing arts groups.

The new marquee destination was developed by the PDP with support from the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Duquesne Light, Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority, Flyspace Productions, Riverlife, and the Office of Public Art.
