We hope your semester is off to a great start! The Center for Latin American Studies is excited to share our Fall 2023 Schedule of Events. This semester, we feature an exciting lineup of speakers, student coalitions, engagement activities, and roundtables.
We have three very special events happening this week, and I hope to see you in some (all?) of them! The series “Slavery and Memorialization in the Atlantic World”, co-sponsored by the Center for African Studies and the Department of History, will start on Tuesday 19th with the talk “A Journey Through Slavery at the Whitney Plantation” by Prof. Ibrahima Seck (University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar, Senegal). On Thursday 21st, Prof. Eladio Bobadilla (History, Pitt) will start the 23-24 CLAS Speaker Series discussing his work on capital, migration, and the struggle for immigrants' rights. Finally, on Saturday, our world-wide famous Latin American & Caribbean Festival will take place at the Posvar Hall Patio from 2-8 pm.
Un gran abrazo/um grande abraço,
Keila
