The European Union Center of Excellence, with partial funding from the European Commission, offers grants for research related to post-World War II European integration for University of Pittsburgh faculty in any department or school. The grants typically range in size from $2,500 to $7,500.
The purpose of the EUCE Faculty Grant Competition is to develop faculty expertise in the European Union which will lead to eventual publication. For faculty with minimal expertise in the EU, participation at a conference that will begin their study of the EU may be part of a faculty member’s proposal. On-site field work is preferred for more established EU scholars.
Applicants are expected to also secure matching funds from their department or school.
Grants will be awarded competitively with significant consideration given to how the proposal contributes to the EUCE’s priorities. As a condition of an award, travel or other activities must be coordinated with the Center’s Associate Director to ensure that the award funds are disbursed by August 15. Unused awards cannot be carried over to a subsequent year.
Under requirements of the University Center for International Studies, all applicants must gain IRB clearance or exemption before awards may be given. The EUCE Faculty Research Grant Competition Application includes a box that you must complete and sign.
