Playing to Live! uses therapy based art, play and yoga to help children affected by trauma in low resource and high trauma communities. Evidence-based research shows that child-centered, creative arts therapy techniques greatly improve a child's ability to express and release complex emotions resulting from trauma. We also empower the local community members through collaboration by creating culturally relevant therapy techniques and training.
Playing to Live! was created in October 2014, as a response to the great need for psychological support to children during and the Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Jessi Hanson, GSPIA PHD candidate, is one of the founders.
