The Theatre programme contains activities that introduce particularly the young generation to theatre and drama, providing them with important tools for dealing with the hardships of daily life under occupation.
At the same time, The Freedom Theatre runs several professional training programmes with the aim of building up long-term capacity in the field of theatre, drama and applied theatre.(Please note there are additional projects being run by the Freedom Theater. See their website for a full description of their work.

The Freedom Theatre receives volunteers from all corners of the world who come to share their skills in solidarity with the people in Jenin. They prefer to host volunteers on a more long-term basis, at least two to three months, or recurring volunteers who come for a shorter time each year. THey also have an internship program.

They do not pay volunteers but provide free accommodation for all volunteers in their  guesthouse and  cover all work-related costs such as local transportation.

Important qualifications in all volunteers is that they are responsible, able to take initiative and work independently, as well as function as team members. Another prerequisite is that volunteers are willing to respect the local culture, even if it means making adjustments or sacrifices. Arabic speakers are prioritised.

Application process
Volunteer applications are reviewed twice a year. Deadlines for applications are approximately mid-December and mid-June. Before the deadline, upcoming volunteer opportunities will be announced.

In the event that any additional volunteer needs come up in between the review dates, they will be announced on this page. To apply for any of the volunteer positions, send an email with your CV and cover letter.

If you are accepted as a volunteer, you will receive a Volunteer Guide with more detailed information about The Freedom Theatre, our community and how to get here.
